What Is Vig and Why Does It Matter?

Vig (short for vigorish, also called juice or overround) is the bookmaker's built-in profit margin. In a fair two-outcome market, both sides would be priced at 2.00 (50% implied probability each, totalling 100%). A bookmaker prices both at 1.90, implying 52.6% each — total 105.2%. The extra 5.2% is the vig.

This tool strips the vig to reveal the underlying probabilities the bookmaker actually believes — without the margin distorting them. Compare the no-vig probability to your own estimate: if you believe an outcome is more likely than the no-vig probability suggests, the bet may be +EV.

No-Vig vs Margin Calculator

Our Margin Calculator shows the total overround and rating. This no-vig calculator goes one step further — it tells you the fair probability and fair odds for each individual outcome. Both use the same underlying maths; the difference is what they emphasise as output.
